Second Grade

As my oldest, J has the unfortunate honor of being my guinea pig for all things related to homeschooling. Thankfully, she's very tolerant of this and has excelled at anything I've set forth for her to date. Last year she showed incredible improvement in all subjects and I look forward to seeing how much she absorbs this year!

Goals

• Math skills including: addition and subtraction of large numbers, introduction and improvement in multiplication and division, further practice with time, money and fractions.
• Continued growth as a strong, independent reader with the use of chapter books, library time and read-alouds from literature. 
• Increased vocabulary and phonetic awareness of vowel behavior with weekly spelling lists and activities.
• Growing as a writer across various methods and genres.
• Learning about science through observation and experimentation.
• Studying how history and ancient civilizations have affected our own society and lives via unit studies.
